Do I still have to pay for a deposit if I buy RentalCover?
Car rental companies will generally require you to leave a security deposit with them at pick-up, as a security measure in case you damage the car.
Deposit amounts are usually between £/$/€500 to £/$/€900 but can go up to £/$/€1200 depending on the destination and vehicle type. Make sure your credit card limit allows you to pay the deposit plus any other expenses you have planned for your trip.
You will usually need a credit card for this and the rental company will either deduct or place a hold on your funds. If there is no damage to the car, the hold will be released or a refund will be issued after drop off. Please note that it can take a few days for the money to get back into your account.
If the car is damaged the rental company may deduct the security deposit and any other amounts from your card.
