How our Rental Car Insurance beats the rental desk

RentalCover provides complete protection against theft and costly damage to your rental vehicle, all at significant savings.Get the peace of mind that comes from knowing that a small scrape won’t turn into thousands of dollars of repair costs and fees. We provide even more complete protection than the loss or collision damage waiver offered by leading rental car companies, at a fraction of the price.

Even if you have supplementary protection from your credit card your coverage won't be as extensive as RentalCover.com:

Flat tires, cracked windshields, damaged headlights, lost keys, and towing.

Sky-high charges added to your repair bill, including fees for loss of use, processing, relocation and towing.

Complete coverage for all authorized drivers (such as your spouse) if they are listed on the rental agreement.

Rentals for more than 30 days.

Plus, RentalCover will cover you for other rented vehicles that your personal car insurance or credit card may exclude, such as full size sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, motorhomes, camper vans, car shares, and courtesy cars.

Your questions answered

Yes, additional drivers who are on the rental agreement with you are covered free of charge. You may need to inform us of the additional drivers' names, pursuant to the terms of your policy. Please note that the rental company may charge a small ‘additional driver’ fee.

Yes, rental car insurance is worth it. It gives you protection for potentially extreme rental company excess fees if your hired car is damaged or stolen. Without insurance, you could face very high costs if an incident occurs.

Is my credit card coverage sufficient?

Relying on credit card coverage means you could still be on the hook for thousands of dollars! For US Residents, your credit card likely provides secondary rental car insurance that only kicks in after you’ve made a claim through your personal auto insurance (which may potentially lead to a rate increase). Credit card coverage often has a long list of exclusions, such as damage caused by additional drivers, lost keys, roadside repair costs, windshield, undercarriage, mirror & roof damage, long-term rentals, and the steep fees that the rental companies add to your repair bill.

Yes, you may modify your coverage or cancel for a refund up until the time that you pick up your rental vehicle. You may extend your coverage at any time.

A Collision Damage Waiver (or Loss Damage Waiver) is a type of car insurance that reduces your liability for damages to a rental vehicle if it is damaged or stolen.

A CDW is not strictly insurance. It’s a waiver that transfers the risk of financial loss for damages like towing and administrative fees to the rental company.

Rental car companies usually offer a CDW when you pick up your rental. This cover usually comes with a high excess, which you can reduce with additional upsells.

If you have cover from Rental Cover, you can say ‘no’ to CDWs and upsells at the rental desk. Our policies come with a $0 excess and go beyond standard rental company CDWs. For example, we offer cover for windshields and all authorized drivers on the rental agreement.

What do I do if I plan to travel to multiple countries?

What is Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) in car rental?

Our plans are valid for rental vehicles anywhere in the world. Our Supplemental Liability Insurance (for rentals that originate in the US, except New York) is covered for Canada if the vehicle is collected in the US.

Supplemental Liability Insurance is a type of add-on (non-compulsory) cover that increases your protection against third-party claims for bodily injury and property damage.

SLI protects you if you are at fault for an accident and boosts the amount of coverage for damage, such as high-cost accidents, medical expenses or vehicle repairs.

SLI is generally offered by car rental companies. Our policy offers similar coverage.
